Detroit Tigers pitchers Edwin Jackson and Justin Verlander were named to the American League All-Star team today along with center fielder Curtis Granderson.
The way Verlander has pitched these last six weeks, I’m not sure why the hitters even bother to get in the box. In his last nine starts, this man has a 1.10 ERA and almost twice as many strikeouts (81) as hits allowed (43).
Every Red Wings fan was hoping that harsh consequence would fall on the younger, Pittsburgh squad and not on our home team. The reverberations of a tough game 7 loss Friday seemed to linger along the Riverfront all night, if not all weekend.
