The Cultural Alliance has partnered with the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan to bring a special funding opportunity to their member arts and cultural organizations.

The Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan announced the grant which is tied to an online marketing and fund-raising initiative that could generate as much as $3 million in operating funds for about 80 member groups of the Cultural Alliance of Southeast Michigan.

The money comes at a critical time for metro Detroit’s arts organizations, reports The Free Press. The grant also underscores the increasingly important role local foundations are playing in helping to sustain local arts groups, from large institutions like the Detroit Symphony Orchestra to midsize and grassroots groups.

Gifts for the Community Foundation Challenge made online at www.cfsem.org to support participating Cultural Alliance members will be matched 50 percent by the Community Foundation. For every two dollars contributed online by donors to support these arts and cultural organizations, the Community Foundation will match it with one dollar. Gifts can be made by credit card or e-check. A donor may give just $25 or as much as $10,000. A donor may give to as many organizations as they like, or only to one, using the drop-down menu.

Mark August 18 at 10 a.m. on your calendar! Be ready to make your contribution then. The program ends as soon as the $1 million matching fund is exhausted. To learn more about the online giving program and the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, go to www.cfsem.org.
