Detroit-Windsor International Freedom Festival

The Parade Company and Target are pleased to announce the annual Detroit summertime tradition, the Target Fireworks, will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:06 p.m. The Target Fireworks, choreographed by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale, is one of the world’s most spectacular and largest fireworks display in the nation with more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects lighting up the international skyline over the Detroit River.

“The spectacular Target Fireworks brings people together to celebrate the spirit of summer in Detroit and reminds us all why we love our city, our community and our traditions” said Matthew P. Cullen, Chair, Michigan Thanksgiving Parade Foundation.

The Windsor-Detroit International Freedom Festival is recognized and respected as the best Festival that represents the peace, unity, freedom, and friendship shared between Canada and the United States. The festival combines Independence Day (U.S.) and Canada Day (Canada) and lasts several weeks, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the Detroit River.
